breast implant examination westchester

We are currently conducting a study involving patients who have undergone cosmetic breast augmentation surgery in the past, or who have decided they want the procedure and are seeking consultation. You are being invited as a possible participant because you have had this procedure and may also know other women who are interested in cosmetic breast augmentation who may wish to participate.

This research study will investigate the types of events that may prompt repeat operations after initial breast augmentation surgery and cosmetic satisfaction over time. We will address these issues by closely following women, their implants, and cosmetic satisfaction using a schedule to include clinical exam, X-rays and possibly other tests that your surgeon may feel necessary. Since women who have cosmetic implant procedures often never see their cosmetic surgeon again, we feel this is an important initiative for both patient safety and maintenance of cosmetic satisfaction. Since there are no clear guidelines regarding checkups for cosmetic breast implants, the types of tests to perform, or how frequently to check a woman’s implants, we feel this study is important for patients and the surgeons who perform these procedures. The goal of routine follow-up of implants after the surgery would include maintaining the best possible cosmetic appearance over time as well as the integrity of the implant itself.

Since cosmetic breast augmentation surgery has become the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the United States, we feel that addressing these important issues would contribute to the overall improvement of patient care, safety and cosmetic results.

Your full understanding of the study, eligibility and informed consent will be required in order to participate in the study. Please view our consent form to review general information about the study. If you are eligible and decide to participate, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that takes about 15-20 minutes to complete which will review information about your health, lifestyle, the implant operation, any complications or repeat surgery you may have had, and your satisfaction with the cosmetic result. If you choose to continue with us for follow-up of your implants, we will schedule an initial consultation and review the type of exams and X-rays that we would recommend for you as part of the study.

You will have the opportunity to discuss this study further by calling us for more information or scheduling a visit.
